He clicked a few links and was brought to his profile. There were two notifications for him! Interest! He just knew he’d redesigned his profile to be irresistible to those wishing to help! Excitedly he read more about his potential sponsors. He couldn’t wait to respond to one or both of them and get this party started. One, a retired Chief Financial Officer for a Fortune 500 company seeking to “give back” by helping those who need her assistance. Her? He thought, I’d never considered that my sponsor would be a woman. He would have to give that additional thought. He clicked on the other interested would-be sponsor. It was an attorney named “Lance Powell Richards, III.” He’d never heard a more pretentious name in his life. What could this guy possibly want with him? There were now 76 profiles in the HRP database for this area, and this guy chose him. He dismissed the suspicious thoughts contributing them to his own distrust and paranoia.
He decided he would respond to the lawyer because a woman sponsor could bring unseen complications, especially since the “houseguest” is intended to live at the sponsor’s residence, albeit temporarily. He searched the page for a link to contact him when he read the notice: “All communication must be through the HRP Liaison.” He didn’t realize he was speaking aloud when he shouted: “What kind of bullshit is this!?” Realizing his error, he thought to himself: They’ll trust us to move in with these folks, but not to email them? This is crap. This red tape crap could delay my new start for weeks.
He printed the response and marched down the hall to locate this “liaison” person, wondering why they would use such fancy words to describe a simple unnecessary middleman. He found “Pierre” who fit
