I Died A Little
I died a little today;
I can say without sorrow. For the truth is the same thing will happen tomorrow.
It’s a pure and honest irony that no one dare deny;
the very second we start living is the same we start to die.
We all know the simple truth. There’s no need to pretend. The same moment we begin is the beginning of the end.
Though we disregard the topic, we know it still exists,
and the more we overlook it, the more that it persists.
Yet when we end the silence, and give mortality a voice, we expose the harsh reality that we haven’t got a choice.
We give our hearts the freedom to live each day without guilt as a single solitary patch
in life’s amazing quilt.
With unconditional kindness we understand how to give, for we’re not living to die, we are dying to live.
It’s a freedom we experience, an awakening in our soul when we admit that life’s finale is quite out of our control.
