Infection
They describe it as “bereavement, despair and woeful mourning,” but those fancy words do not include a clear and truthful warning.
That grief is an infection that permeates your soul reaching raw emotions that you cannot control.
A plague, a virus, a disease no medicine can fight.
Its symptoms may lie dormant, then show up late at night.
No bacteria or germ,
or pathogens to fear,
an invisible parasite
that siphons joy with every tear.
No blood, no wound, no injury, and yet, unending pain that runs through every nerve, every artery, and vein.
“Time is the greatest healer” is a statement of deception. For even time is not a remedy for this lifelong infection.
Yes, time may bond the fracture as a broken heart grieves, but the scars remain fresh, for this infection never leaves.
