Good Pain
From two dates on a stone, I have learned from the latter: to love and be loved
is all that will matter.
Time heals all wounds --
a cliché often spoken.
It is true my heart has mended, but it will never be unbroken.
Yet, time has taught me this: there is a reason for my pain, a reason it is still here, and here, it will remain.
It is a symbol I was loved, and there is love I am still giving to those who left a part of them inside this life I’m living.
This pain that is present is a bittersweet feeling, leftover remnants from the process of healing.
Waves of sorrow still rise, yet it is now understood each tear is a product from a pain that is good.
I succumb to good pain, though I grieve and I pine
for I meant as much to someone’s life as they did to mine.
