Excuses
Carpe diem translates to: “Seize the Day.” I have learned however,
that my happiness depends upon living that adage backwards... allowing each day, instead, to seize me.
To succumb to the sunshine, relish the rain, roll with the tide. To inhabit the moments I am living during the instance they are the moments I am living.
To meld the two definitions of: What is life? and What is me? For they are not separate. They, we, are one and the same.
‘Tis an unfortunate fact that too much time must pass, too many years must dissipate into the atmosphere before we realize we must stop making excuses.
Excuses we tell others, excuses we tell ourselves. Excuses that prevent us from accepting the invitations to life
that life itself sends out every day.
Excuses that forgive our procrastination, putting off living...until tomorrow. Excuses that lead us into the false security that we will be granted one.
