Stupid Pride
Reach out today. Put down your defenses. Swallow your pride to mend those fences.
Two must forget; two must forgive
for we just don’t get that much time to live.
You were hurt, and so were they. But that was then, and not today.
This quarrel has gone on too long. Whoever was right, this is all wrong.
You had some arguments and strife,
but now you miss their presence in your life.
It only gets worse the longer you wait. So, save what was there before it’s too late.
Prides were wounded. Hearts were broken. Words were said that should not have been spoken.
There are no winners. This isn’t a game. Don’t let time change what won’t be the same.
You don’t have to look them in the eyes. You can use this poem to apologize!
If they’re not ready, give them time.
And perhaps they’ll send you back this rhyme.
Then you will know at least you tried. Don’t let things end over stupid pride.
