              Forest lies north of Yellowstone
National Park and covers over total acres

              Mountains provide clean drinking
              water, spawning grounds for trout,
and valuable habitat for a variety
of iconic Greater Yellowstone 12,799 ft

of Greater Yellowstone, GYC eagles, and so much more)
              submitted comprehensive and
detailed comments in June to the
              Forest Service advocating for
              clean water, wildlife habitat, and
              wilderness protections for these
              beloved public lands. We also
              organized thousands of comments
from citizens who share our vision.
              Ultimately, our goal is to
              secure new land protections for
              approximately 250,000 acres of
the Forest, mostly centered on the
              Gallatin Range south of Bozeman,
              Montana. GYC is advocating
              for roughly 130,000 acres of
              recommended wilderness, as well
as another 120,000 acres of other
              conservation designations such
              as Wildlife Management Areas
              and Watershed Protection and
              Recreation Areas.

              The Forest Service is reviewing
comments and will release the final
plan late this year or early in 2020.
              Stay tuned! (Photo: Louise Johns)
