Working together for new facilities on the Broads
Anglers will benefit from new and improved access and facilities on the Broads,
thanks to work being carried out as part of the Broadland Flood Alleviation
Project. The Environment Agency is working together with the Broads Angling
Strategy Group, the Broads Authority and Broadland Environmental Services
Ltd, to highlight possible improvements which could be made when carrying
out vital flood defence work. Examples of new angling facilities and access
improvements to be made in the future include:
>> South Walsham Fleet Dyke: Up to ten new angling platforms.
>> River Waveney at Barsham Marshes: New angling platforms,
car park and footpath improvements.
>> River Bure at Coldharbour: Improved car parking facilities.
Other general improvements will help to improve access for anglers, including
installing self-closing gates rather than stiles (easier for the angler laden with
gear!) and the widening and resurfacing of flood bank paths.
