my day. I hope they remember me as a voracious reader—a
legacy from my father. He was a high school graduate and an
excellent chronicler of day-to-day events, observations, and
memories of his own beloved deceased parents. He would be
proud that I became a good reader.
I hope they forgive my moodiness and my high drama
about trivial things. I hope my children remember the cheer-
fulness with which I sent them on trips to enjoy their young
lives the way I enjoyed mine.
As I write, I think of my father, who pecked and hunted
over a manual Smith-Corona typewriter for 70 years and
would be pleased that I was following in his footsteps.
