III. Eyewitness Illustrations
EYEWITNESS PHOTOGRAPHS. In the following pages of Mineshaft publicity kit
photographs, all were shot for promotional purposes in the Mineshaft and were given to
Jack Fritscher by the manager of the Mineshaft, Wally Wallace, from his personal collec-
tion, with the express purpose of illustrating Fritscher’s eyewitness history of the Mineshaft
in conjunction with advertising materials, Mineshaft Newsletters, personal letters, and
transcripts of the videotape Jack Fritscher Interviews Mineshaft Manager, Wally Wallace,
March 28, 1990. Out of an age of joyous anonymity in the 1970s and through an age
of AIDS in the 1980s, where identification was simply not uncloseted and then became
impossible, names of subjects and photographers are strictly noted as known. All photo-
graphs ©Wally Wallace. One hundred Mineshaft photographs in the Jack Fritscher and
Mark Hemry collection may be seen by appointment.
