Never has anybody warned me
How occupied I would be
How upset I could be
How exhausting it might be
How challenging it turned out to be
When I stepped into motherhood.
But never has anybody forgotten to tell me
How beautiful it would be
When I see their smiles
When I hear they laugh
When I hold their hands
When I kiss their cheeks
When I hug them close
And even when they sing their first ABC.
You see
My world may never be
As carefree
But they suffice me
For having them is blissfully.
