• Separation of counterflashing from vertical surfaces.
• Air gaps between the counterflashing and base flashing.
• Counterflashing that ends too high above the base flashing.
Common problems with non-metallic base flashing include:
• Flashing that’s too thin, such as 15-pound roofing felt used where 45-pound is needed.
• Flashing that’s not wide enough, such as an 18" strip of felt used where 36" felt is needed.
