NEIGHBOR STORIES
Ada Garcia began coming to BBHH to receive groceries in May 2023. As a single mom, she needed help supporting herself and her 13-year-old son. Ada also recently started caring for her friend, a senior who is partially blind and has no family willing or able to care for him. Ada felt compelled to help provide for him, even as she struggled.
She says, "I am so grateful that I found Brother Bill's and receive so much food here each month. Without this food, I could not feed my little family due to how expensive everything is lately." Ada is thankful for the food she receives monthly and continues to pray for the employees and volunteers who make the Grocery Store and other programs at BBHH possible.

Maria Angeles graduated from Pathways in the Spring of 2023. She gained condence and many tools during class to continue her path toward a successful life and employment.
Two months after graduation, our amazing partner, Hope Cottage, hired her as one of their bilingual outreach specialists. Maria Luz now teaches one of our parenting classes through Hope Cottage at Brother Bills every Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. She also meets with mothers and offers individual parenting sessions every Wednesday and Thursday during grocery store hours.
She says that “I enjoy the connection between myself and the people I meet. The most meaningful thing about my job would be the difference I will make by teaching the parents about how to care for their kids.”
