Beldi was a real girl, fussy and super cocky but oh so sweet. And smart too. At coursings,

for instance, she always ran her own course, already cutting and guessing where the lure
would go. A disaster to judge but a lot of fun she had! Sometimes she would run straight
from the start to the finish, wagging her tail and waiting for her stupid brother who had
        run the whole lap.

After Barud and Beldi, Faruq and Ferda Kamar al Akbar followed in 2003. Then, in 2010, we
were joined by Zinah, our long-dog (Saluki x Greyhound crossbreed) from a shelter in

Belgium. Faruq sadly died far too early at the age of 8.

Then at the ECC in Sweden I saw a beautiful Sloughi male of what we did call the old-
fashioned type, he turned out to be American-bred, from very original lines. When I heard
that his sister would have a litter in 2013, we wanted a female from that. Together with
Ted, I visited the breeder and the puppies. While we were sitting on the floor among the

dogs, a male dog came to lie very contentedly close to me. But I was looking for a bitch.
Unfortunately, there wasn't much choice left in that. A few weeks later, Frie and I went
back together. The same ritual repeated itself, only now the male lay down with Frie.....
What do you mean, the dog chooses its master? So that became Gabr Ghazelle Ksar
Ghilane, a very sweet gentle male.
