Quality Qualifications
QP1 – Field Application to Complex Industrial and Marine Structures
An internationally recognized program designed to provide facility owners and specification writers
a means to determine whether the painting contractor has the capability to perform surface
preparations and coating application in the field on complex industrial and marine structures.
QP2 – Field Removal of Hazardous Coatings
QP2 builds on the standards and guidelines of QP1 to further qualify the industrial contracting
company in hazardous paint removal operations such as lead abatement. Avalotis Corporation has
been evaluated and certified based on their management of hazardous material, technical
capabilities related to the removal process, personal qualifications, safety and environmental
compliance programs.
QP3 – Shop Painting Certification Program
An internationally recognized program that evaluates the practices of shop painting facilities in key
areas of business. Avalotis Corporation has been evaluated and certified based on management
procedures and responsibility, technical capabilities, quality control, HS&E, Inspection and testing.
QS1 – Standard Procedure for Evaluating a Contractor’s Advanced Quality
Management Skills
Avalotis Corporation has implemented a more advanced Quality Management System (QMS) which
requires heightened levels of training and qualification requirements for QC managers and
inspectors, written work plans including inspection and test plans for individual job sites, and
written quality plans that detail and document how requirements for quality will be met. Unlike
ISO 9001 certification, QS-1 allows Avalotis Corporation to provide the facility owner with the dual
benefit of a coatings-industry specific QMS plus an ISO 9001 compliant QMS.
NQA1 – Nuclear Quality Assurance Certification
The NQA-1 program provides centralized, independent, third-party certification for quality
assurance programs in conformance with the ASME NQA-1 standard. Endorsed by the Nuclear
Regulatory Commission, NQS-1 is published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and
focuses on quality assurance for nuclear material applications, structures, and other safety related
mechanisms. 6
