A From the Director ~
Thank you for joining us tonight for the Marriotts Ridge Winter Dance Concert! It has truly been a pleasure to join these amazing dancers at Marriotts Ridge! I feel truly blessed to be a part of this school and program and look forward to creating great memories, providing opportunities and guiding these talented dancers and choreographers through their journey!
This program not only serves as a fine arts credit and artistic movement class, but a home for many students to interact and engage with classmates and guest artists. This year students will have the opportunity to take master classes with three guest artists that work in the professional industry. Rommel Pacson from Las Vegas, Tracie Burton from Los Angeles and Nate Hunt from New York City. It is my hope that dancers will engage in these opportunities with our guest artists and take away something valuable from the classes which promote growth, exploration and create a better understanding about the profession, dance artistry and themselves. I am so grateful that I am able to bring these artists to our home at MRHS.
This year, two of our Dance Company members were selected to be in the All County Dance Ensemble! Congratulations to Abbie Eshleman and Sophie Seitchik who were selected by audition to perform with the county ensemble on Saturday, February 3rd @ the Howard County Dance Festival at Howard High School! We are so proud of you!
This year’s student dance intern, Kaitlyn Thornton, works with our Dance 2, 3, 4 class and has created a piece for Dance 3, 4 which will be performed in tonight’s concert. Company and Jr. Company students, that were interested in creating works and setting choreography, auditioned during quarter 1 and their works will also be featured in tonight’s performance. Congratulations to our choreographers, Abbie Eshleman, Lily Eshleman, Claire Guo, Clare Hinds, Katy McManus, Sabrine Semper and Amanda Stephens on their efforts and success!
Tonight’s concert also features the Mount View Middle Dance Club! These energetic and talented young dancers meet weekly at the middle school for rehearsal with me and members of the MRHS Company and Jr. Company. They have accomplished a great deal in a short amount of time and we are so excited to have them performing with us in tonight’s show!
I am especially thankful for the tech crew, our light and sound managers, lighting expert, Don Alberg, parent volunteers and backstage assistants! I hope that everyone enjoys tonight’s performance!!
Happy Holidays!J
