Number of Places Minimum of 5 places Available
Who can apply for a Place on the Access Course?
Any person can apply who is now or previously has been a Protection Applicant.
Young Adults (18-22 Years) with Leaving Cert, 2 x H4 and 4 x O6 min. Young Adults who did not sit the Leaving Cert can also apply.
Mature Students (22+ years)
Are you required to undertake an English Language exam?
Not necessarily, but you will have to show that you have a sufficient level of English to participate in this course. e.g. you may have undertaken previous education through English. If you cannot provide evidence or demonstrate the required level of English you may have to undergo a language test.
What does the course include?
This is a free part-time course - a pre-university course which prepares students for entry into a wide range of Undergraduate Degree Programmes in St. Angela’s College, Sligo and NUI Galway
Any Other Relevant Information
This is taught at the equivalent of a Level 6 - it is an internal qualification to progress to undergraduate courses in NUI Galway or St. Angela’s College
Course includes 4 Core Academic Modules (Academic Writing, Academic Technology, Study Skills and Skills for College and Career) and Choice subjects (4 from the following - Sociology, Economics, Philosophy, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Home Economics, Nursing, Education, Mathematics and Politics).
Young Adults who did not sit the Leaving Cert can also apply.
