 ● Work reference: landlords / agents like work references – if you
 are working ask your employer to write a letter of
 recommendation.
 ● Proof of income: such as a bank statement or payslips or welfare
 receipts.
 ● Photo ID: such as PPSN card.
 ● PPS number.
4.6 Your rights:
 • Landlords and agents cannot legally refuse HAP.
 • They also cannot refuse a tenant because of their race,
 nationality, religion or colour. It is illegal to do this.
 • There are also laws against discrimination on the grounds of
 gender, sexual orientation, disability, marital status, age and
 disability.
 • The main law that addresses discrimination in housing is the
 Equality Act 20. This covers you when: you are looking for a place to live; you have already found accommodation; or you are being
 evicted. The Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission can
  support you.
 • You have the right to:
 - to quiet and exclusive enjoyment of your home. If noise from
 other tenants or neighbours is disturbing you, ask them to stop
 and also inform your landlord. If this does not work, you can
 make a formal complaint.
  - live in a safe property
 of accommodation
that is in line with the minimum standards
  - enforce your rights without fear of eviction
 - be protected from unfair eviction (see section 4.8) and/or rent
 increases
 - have a fair tenancy agreement that complies with the law
