4.7 Security of tenure
If you have been renting for 6 months+ and have not received a valid written notice of termination, you automatically get ‘security of tenure’. This means your landlord cannot evict you without a valid reason (see section 4.8) and you can stay in the property for:
• If your tenancy started on or before 24 December 2016, this period is 4 years.
• If your tenancy started after 24 December 2016, this period is 6 years.

 If you are having difficulties with your landlord there are
 supports available. You can contact:
 • Threshold
     After you have been in your accommodation for 6months+, you have
tenancy rights (Part 4 tenancy rights).
  Your landlord cannot end your contract without a ‘valid reason’.

 • You are in breach of your tenant responsibilities – (See section 4.9).
• The landlord is selling the accommodation.
