       of the city of Cumberland. Pass through a model of the Paw Paw Tunnel
       and explore a life-size section of a canal boat. View exhibits on the canal's
       construction, cargo, mules, locks, and crew. While there, head to the
       Trestle Walk at Canal Place to view ‘The Cumberland,’ a full-sized replica
       canal boat constructed in 1976 as a bicentennial project for the C&O Canal.

       WESTERN MARYLAND SCENIC RAILROAD

       Featuring the newly-restored 1309 steam engine – the largest operating steam
       engine of its kind in the world, the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad operates
       year-round with excursions departing from Cumberland, MD, at the terminus of the
       C&O Canal, and winds through The Narrows to climb 1,291 vertical feet to the
       mountain city of Frostburg.
