COLE LAVELLE
Cole first stepped into the wrestling room as an 8th grader and quickly drew the attention of the coaching staff. With his natural athleticism and unorthodox style, Cole has been a significant con- tributor to the varsity team for four years. He was a top contender in last year’s conference and state championship, and his work ethic is evident on and off the mat. Cole is a captain for the cross country and track teams, and serves as senior class president.
JAKE MERMANS - CAPTAIN
As the son and younger brother of former Latin state champion wrestlers, it was no surprise that Jake found his way to the Mat Hawk program. A quiet work- er who never complains, Jake has had plenty of success as a starting member of the varsity team. A first-year starter in 2019, Jake won a conference title and finished second in the state tournament. As a junior, Jake won a second confer- ence title and placed third at the state tournament. Now as a senior captain, Jake will look to be the third Mermans to win an NCISAA state championship!
DEAN OMIRLY - CAPTAIN
From the first time he stepped foot on the wrestling mat for a competition, there has been something special about Dean. In high school, Dean’s competitive nature heightened, as did his wrestling skills. He secured his first state title as a freshman, and repeated that achievement as a junior – while falling just one match shy of All-Ameri- can status at the National Prep Tourna- ment. Now as a senior wrestler with a career record of 105 wins and 9 losses, Dean will wrestle at Wesleyan Uni- versity as one of the more decorated wrestlers in our program’s history.
