ANJUM BABUKHAN

U S-born Anjum Babukhan, who migrated to Hyderabad in 1995 following her marriage to
businessman-philanthropist Salman Babukhan, is the moving spirit behind the CBSE and
Cambridge Assessment International Education (UK)-affiliated Glendale Academy (GA). Since it
admitted its first batch of 46 students in 2003, this K-12 school has quickly established an excellent
reputation for providing deeply-researched primary-secondary education to enable the holistic
development of children. In the latest EducationWorld India School Rankings 2019-20, GA is ranked
#2 in Hyderabad and Telangana (pop. 40 million) among co-ed day schools.

A visionary educator and author whose passion for learning is the driving force behind the promo-
tion and development of institutions that empower and enrich children, Anjum believes “it is the re-
sponsibility of the educated to build institutions that are nurturing spaces for every child.” Therefore
she promoted and designed Glendale Academy 17 years ago with the mission “to develop every
child’s intelligence, life skills and universal values for holistic growth.”

Within two decades of translocating to Hyderabad, Anjum has also promoted a chain of Glendale
Edufun preschools, the Glendale International School (estb.2015) which offers the IB primary years
programme and Cambridge International (UK) curriculum, and the Edvantage Teacher Leadership
Institute (estb.2011). These academies have transformed the education landscape of Hyderabad,
a newly emerged hub of the 21st century ICT (information and communication technologies) in-
dustry. A committed evangelist of the multiple intelligences theory developed by the globally re-
nowned Dr. Howard Gardner of Harvard University, she is also author of ABCs of Brain Compatible
Learning (CreateSpace Independent Publishing, 2016).
