A tional trade and finance from Symbiosis University, Pune, Anirudh Gupta is chief executive
of the DCM Group of Institutions (estb. 1946), a pioneer English-medium cluster of schools in North
India. Since the first DCM High School was established by educationist M.R. Dass on the eve of in-
dependence in the border town of Ferozepur, the DCM Group has steadily grown to six CBSE-affili-
ated K-12 schools and one pre-primary in the educationally underserved districts of Ferozepur and
Ludhiana in Punjab, and Ambala and Faridabad in Haryana. Currently, DCM schools have 20,000
students and 1,200 faculty and support staff on their muster rolls.

Shortly after graduating in 1997, Gupta declined rewarding corporate and career opportunities
abroad to take charge as CEO of the DCM Group which had by then expanded to three schools. “I
made the decision to become an edupreneur to lighten the heavy burden of my mother who was
single-handedly managing these schools after the death of Mr. Dass in 1991. Looking back, I’m
glad I made that decision as I've discovered that education is my true calling. Over the past two de-
cades, I have rolled out numerous initiatives to modernise and contemporise DCM schools to create
child-friendly learning environments and improve learning outcomes,” says Gupta.
