paint on paper and he believes Daly
Waters is a great place to start such a
rewarding hobby, as the iconic Daly
Waters pub and Outback Servo are
ideal subjects to explore and paint. Art
Camps are also on the drawing board.
The art gallery inside this proposed
venture will give all of the Northern
Territory’s artists living in remote
localities an opportunity to display
their traditional artworks. Even
though Kevin would only like to
display landscape arts he is also Marina at Port Denison
willing to show aboriginal artworks.
The reason Kevin predominantly
wants traditional art displayed in his
gallery is that for the entire length of
the Stuart Highway and beyond, the
majority of galleries in the NT display
indigenous cultural artworks. Kevin
believes the Northern Territory is a
wonderful and wild place to live and
to display it in a traditional art form
on canvas would give the traveller
an insight into how beautiful the
Territory really is and also show how
culturally diverse the NT really is.
Kevin has only displayed his work
once in an Art competition, and that
was due to the tenacity of a friend,
Tracy Treloar in Three Springs,
Western Australia. She convinced Daly Waters Pub NT
Kevin that his artwork would do well
in the bicentennial art show, so she
convinced him to submit some works. Busselton Pier
Kevin did so and was shocked when
he won first place in the acrylics
section, first place in the watercolour
section and the overall People’s Choice
award. He sold his first show painting
on the spot to a collector in Perth.
Kevin is always looking for galleries
around Australia to take his work
as he has hundreds of paintings in
his studio, just waiting for a broader
audience. As he says, “it is time.” O
