30 HOTSHOTS SEPTEMBER
W The Milky Way
DAVID DE CUEVAS, TREIZE VENTS, FRANCE, 23 JUNE 2017
David says: “We had beautiful clear nights at the end
of June and I took advantage by spending time walking
around the countryside. I wanted to immortalise the
early summer and the harvest by showing nature
against the night sky.”
Equipment: Canon EOS 700D DSLR camera, Sky-Watcher Star
Adventurer mount, Tamron 17-50mm lens.
W Jupiter
HOUSSEM KSONTINI,
TUNIS, TUNISIA, 4 JULY 2017
Houssem says: “Knowing that
the Great Red Spot is bigger
than Earth is just incredible,
which is why I chose to shoot Jupiter
when it was visible. I was excited to try my new camera, despite
poor conditions. Fortunately, its high sensitivity and frame rate
allowed me to get a good quality image.”
Equipment: ZWO ASI224MC CMOS camera, Sky-Watcher 150/750
Explorer reflector, Sky-Watcher NEQ3-2 mount.
T Moon montage
SARAH & SIMON FISHER, WORCESTERSHIRE, 3-5 JULY 2017
Sarah says: “The UK skies are usually quite
changeable, but the seeing on these nights was
outstanding. Each image is a prime focus single
shot. This isn’t the easiest technique to master, but
we were thrilled with the results and decided to
create a montage showing the waxing gibbous Moon.”
Equipment: Canon EOS 600D DSLR camera, 5-inch Maksutov-
Cassegrain telescope.
