Conclusions
Chapter 1 – Fundamentals of Medical/Aesthetic Lasers and IPLs v1.1
In this first Chapter we have discussed some of the basics behind lasers and IPLs and their terminology, a bit about light energy, a wee bit about light-tissue interactions and how important it is to understand them, finishing with an introduction to laser/IPL safety.
These are all important to understand if you wish to have a successful career in medical/aesthetic laser/IPL treatments. Many users don’t have a sufficient knowledge of many of these concepts, and, as such, encounter all sorts of problems which lead to unwanted tissue damage, angry clients/patients and loss of business and reputation (and maybe some jail time!!).
At this time, we ask you to take the following quiz – as before, if you score below 80% then you should probably go through the above Chapter again.
In future Chapters we will assume that you understand these basic concepts, which will allow us to properly discuss the clinical application of lasers and IPL systems.
