E24 - Are you getting the best out of your IPL system? Most people don't....
IPL systems can generate excellent results in many conditions, if used correctly. However, I constantly hear people telling me that they "can't get good results" with theirs!
Why is this?
Well, basically it comes down to two main factors:
1. either their equipment is not very good or cannot output a sufficient energy or pulse duration to achieve good results, or,
2. they simply don't know how to use it properly!
For instance, did you know that:
1. you should always use longer pulses for finer hairs or blood vessels?
2. the fluence immediately below the skin surface is much greater than the fluence you
apply to the surface?
3. skin damage increases exponentially with energy density (or fluence)?
4. gel is needed to increase both the energy input into the skin and to draw excess heat
from the skin?
5. contact skin cooling is absolutely critical in all these treatments?
6. different areas of the body respond differently to the same fluence/pulsewidths?
7. post-treatment care is as important as the actual treatment process?
8. IPLs can treat certain conditions much better than lasers???
In addition, do you know how to select the proper fluence/pulsewidth for particular conditions? Many people don't. They simply follow the manufacturer's/supplier's guidelines - and, quite often, they don't know either!!
I've seen plenty of user manuals with erroneous information. No wonder the users cannot achieve good results!
