                                                                                  configuration it is in now. The engraving does not appear from your photo-
                                                                                  graphs to be contemporary to the Civil War. You will note that there are
                                                                                  unembellished areas of the pistol that show moderate wear, such as the back
                                                                                  recess of the cylinder, but the engraving appears crisp with no wear. Most
                                                                                  likely the engraving is not that old, probably 20th century. The ivory grips with
                                                                                  carved Mexican Eagle are in the style seen during the period, but again, most
                                                                                  likely are more recent creations.
