Morris - For three decades
A. I have used a small amount
of upholstery grade silicone spray to
lube drawers. This spray is different
from the silicone spray in hardware
or automotive stores since it contains
no harmful propellants like alcohol
or petroleum distillates. It is used
by professional upholstery shops to 6 5
allow them to slip tight fitting cases
over custom made cushions. Most
good upholstery shops will be able to 3
get you a can. Just do a Google search
either for “food grade silicone” or
for “upholstery silicone spray” and
you will find dozens of places to buy 7
it. Food grade is the same used by 8
the upholstery trade. Either is OK.
I buy mine from my good friends
at Harris & Stearns, an upholstery
supply house in Tampa, Florida. Their
website is http://www.harrisstearns.
com/index.html. They don’t show the
silicone on the site but they do have
it under their own label. Just contact
Tom or Steve Harris from the website.
They may ship it to you or tell where
in your area you can buy it direct.
