Writing a Narrative Essay
A narrative is a story or account of events; it can be real or fiction.
A narrative essay can be based on your own experiences or the experiences of someone else.
It is usually told in the first person.
It is usually told in chronological order.
A person who tells the story is called a narrator.
Using the writing process, you will write a five paragraph narrative essay.
1. PREWRITING
Think of your topic sentence. Choose from a prompt below or think of your own.
A sporting event
Your autobiography
You were abducted by aliens
An experience you will never forget Learning something for the first time
Write sentences to describe the topic you chose. Use your creativity.
Add details that help describe what is happening by using as many different
adjectives and adverbs as you can (descriptive details).
Use sensory details. These are the ones that describe what you feel, taste, smell,
touch, or see.
