5. Writing Workshop Persuasive Essay
As you know, the objective of a persuasive essay is to convince the audience or reader to agree with a position.
This type of writing is very common in commercials, where they are trying to convince the public to buy certain products.
Next, you will write a persuasive essay using the writing process.
1. PREWRITING
First, choose your topic.
You can choose:
Students should be allowed to use cell phones in school. Textbooks should be replaced by laptops.
Students should be paid for getting good grades.
Make a list of your strongest points. Why do you have that opinion?
Think of your audience. Who are you trying to convince? What would be the best approach to persuade them?
It is important to think of who are you trying to convince. Think of them when you are writing your paragraph.
Persuasive words and phrases you can use:
1. Accurate
2. Awesome
3. Creative
4. Do you really think...
5. Do you want to be part of...
6. Exciting
7. I am speaking to you today because...
8. I believe that....
9. I have an idea
