  The Lufthansa Heist
What is the Lufthansa Heist? Simple. It’s the biggest cash robbery in United States’ history. It happened on December 11, 1978, at the JFK Airport. Five million dollars in cash and 875,000 in jewels were stolen. Changing that into modern days’ worth of dollars, that robbery is worth over twenty million dollars today. Mobster Henry Hill and several others carried out the heist. Even now, no jewels or cash have ever been found. Since most of the men involved in the heist died soon afterwards, nobody knows what happened to the money.
The Flor do Mar Shipwreck
In 1502, a Portuguese ship called the Flor do Mar (Flower of the Sea) was made. Its captain was Vasco de Gamma’s brother Estavao (Vasco de Gamma, as you might know, was a very famous and successful Portuguese explorer), and the ship was part of a Portuguese expedition to India in 1505. The Flor do Mar fought in several sea battles for the next six years. In 1511, however, it was tragically lost in a storm.
Even though this sounds a bit like a cliché novel plot, it’s true. And that’s not all. When the Flor do Mar sank it was carrying more than a few sailors. The fortune on board was supposed to be huge. The ship was said to have been carrying the treasure of the Melaka kingdom (which was located in what is now Malaysia), and included more than 60 tons of gold.

Nobody knows for sure if all of these treasures really exist, but many people have spend their lifetime looking for them. This is just the tip of the iceberg; there are countless more treasures out there, just waiting for someone to be lucky enough, stubborn enough, and most of all, clever enough to find them. Are you up for the challenge?
