INDIA, officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia between Pakistan, China and Nepal. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second-
most populous country with 1.18 billion people.
India is one of the oldest civilizations in the world with a great variety and rich cultural heritage
The official language is Hindi. English is recognized as a second language.
India is a federal constitutional republic consisting of 28 states and seven union territories with a parliamentary system of democracy.
India’s history goes back to 3,200 BC when Hinduism was first founded. Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Judaism, Zoroashtrianism, Christianity and Islam all exist within the country today.
  In the 20th century, a nationwide struggle for independence was launched by the Indian National Congress and other political organizations. Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi led millions of people in several national campaigns of non-violent civil disobedience.
India earned its independence from the British rule on August 15, 1947. But the British army left India ultimately in 1950. The Indians celebrate January 26th, 1950 as the Republic Day of India.
