BC Billiards is an example of turning one’s love of pool into a place to share that love with your family, friends, and community.
BC Billiards came about, when Bill Dixon, one of the owners was buying old pool tables, refurbishing them for resale. He got to a point where he had many finished tables for resale when one of his friends said “you should open a pool hall”. Bill said okay.
Three of Bill’s friends jumped on board, two became co-owners and BC Billiards became a reality. (I am paraphrasing if you know me? You know I’ve been known to consume my fair share of adult beverages. The memory could be cloudy).
That night I entered their 8 Ball and 9 Ball Tournaments. I barely managed to take 3rd in the 9 ball and had fun in my losses in the 8 ball tournament.
Anyways, BC Billiards is also a family pool hall. With tournaments on Thursday and Saturday Nights at 7:00 PM and a Handicap 9 Ball tournament on Sundays at 7:00 PM. All entries are $12.00 and 8 ball tournaments are BCA Rules.
While there I had the pleasure to meet Bill Dixon’s other half Lori Deese and her daughter Kayla Hyde who is 14.
Kayla is an excellent Pool and dart player.
It was nice to see her enthusiasm in the way she played and talked about her ability.
It’s not every day you see youth shooting pool or darts.
Also, a well known local player Tommy Kennedy plays there. In 1992 Tommy played Johnny Archer in the Finals of the 17th US OPEN-9 Ball Championships, you can find this on YouTube!
Thank you,
Bill, Lori, Kayla, and JR Smith, another owner who is also the bass player of the heavy metal band Covered in Black. JR, Beverly, and I enjoyed the videos you showed us. It would have been nice to see the band play while we were in Sebring. Unfortunately, we were unable to meet Carl Andrews, the third owner.
I would recommend checking out any of these establishments for a great evening out to enjoy your favorite Tavern Players sport.
All of these places are living proof that enjoyment of these sports are on a comeback and it’s the independent owners that are leading the way to keep these sports going into the future.
A regular player at BC Billiards, Roy always enjoys the game.
Winners of the weekly Thursday tournament Bill Dixon 1st Place and Wesley W. Muller 2nd Place.
Ryan Schrock waiting to serve you up at the bar.
These places are living proof that enjoyment of these sports are on a comeback.
Staying focused is a future Tavern Player at her Best. Kayla Hyde at 14 years old is a future big time competitor, not only in pool but in darts as well. She will be a forced to be reckoned with when competing in tournaments in the very near future. With a look like that all I have to say is “Making Pool Great Again”
