Tamil New year celebrations- 12.04.19 - Primary & Middle School
First celebration of the new academic year. Coming into
the event, the old students geared up by updating their
new classmates regarding the entertainment they had
last year. The auspicious occasion of ringing in the new
year was done with great fervor, as it promised several
new beginnings for all. Tamilnadu is supremely rich in
culture and heritage and while ushering in the New
Year, students felt great pride in performing some of the
traditional dances. The welcome dance by class 6 had a
touch of classical, which was beautifully choreographed.
While class 2 students performed kummi attam brilliantly,
class 5 students were exuberant in oyilattam. Students
of class 7 had the audience enthralled by performing
kolattam. Students of Class 3 rendered a beautiful song
with karaoke. Class 4 presented a Mime – ‘Resolutions’,
the message being, imbibe good habits and banish the
awful ones. Students of Class 8 and 9 explained about
the Tamil New Year, and also gave the fact that based
on the solar cycle, the Tamil calendar has a sixty years
cycle, with each year comprising twelve months. The
programme ended with some thoughtful words from
our Principal. The school wore a festive look with the
students adorning traditional attire.
