“I told Kiki all about this trip,” said Aimi, as Grami drove through the city and out into the country. “Kiki wanted to come with us but I told him to wait. Tad and Toni and Conner have to wait.”
“And what did your imaginary friend, Kiki, say?” asked Grami.
“Kiki said that would give him something special to look forward to,” said Aimi. “I’ll tell him all about it when we get home.”
“Of course you will,” said Grami. “It’s nice to have an imaginary friend, a pretend friend, especially when your real friends are away.”
“Kiki is a real friend,” said Aimi. “He’s my real friend.”
“Kiki is your imaginary friend,” said Grami. “I can see your real friends like Tad and Toni and Connor. I cannot see Kiki because he is your imaginary friend.”
“I can see Kiki,” said Aimi.
