Adventures of Aimi
Aimi looked to her right and did not see any birds. Aimi looked to her left and did not see any birds. “Grami, I’m looking for a bird,” said Aimi.
“Keep looking,” said Grami. “There are many birds in the Bird Zoo.”
Aimi looked behind her and did not see any birds. Aimi looked above her and did not see any birds. But when Aimi looked straight ahead, she saw a bird.
“Grami!” cried Aimi. “I see a bird. It’s a big bright blue bird with a very long tail.”
“Your first bird is a Peacock,” said Grami. “Peacocks are beautiful. His long tail is called a ‘train.’”
“Peacock, Peacock!” said Aimi. “You are my very first bird. You are bright blue and very beautiful.” “Peacock’s feathers are iridescent,” said
Grami.
“What
does ir-id-es-cent mean?” asked Aimi.
“It means that peacock’s feathers shine with different colors when you look at him from different angles,” explained Grami. “Watch it preen its feathers in
the sunshine.”
