and advisories related to the potential traffic congestion and commuter safety and asked drivers to continue
to be cooperative, patient and diligent in order to assure that the project continues to proceed smoothly.

A dedicated commitment by members of the Massachusetts State Police was also an essential facet to
the success of this historical project. Massachusetts State Police Superintendent Richard D. McKeon and
members of his command staff oversaw the mission of the MSP, where public safety was first and foremost,
and every Trooper who worked the toll demolition details fulfilled that mission. In addition, E Troop
Commanding Officer, Major Terry Hanson and his staff, including the E Troop Paid Detail office, did an
outstanding job of managing the logistics of planning, coordinating, scheduling, and deploying hundreds
of Massachusetts State Police officers to the 23 work zone locations along the length of the Massachusetts
        Turnpike.

The positive, end result of these collaborative efforts is best summed up by Massachusetts Governor
Charlie Baker, who said, “We appreciate the planning and labor that has gone into transitioning to All
Electronic Tolling along I-90 while minimizing the impact on commuters. Thanks to the hard work of our
construction crews, contractors, engineers and law enforcement personnel, and the cooperation of the
traveling public, this comprehensive process has transitioned on or ahead of schedule safely and smoothly.
We look forward to sharing the full benefits of electronic tolling along the turnpike, including less traffic
congestion, increased safety and reduced greenhouse gasses, with all drivers and appreciate their continued
cooperation as this process continues and they travel through active work zones.”
