to put on some weight. I want you to walk into my office in two weeks, around Thanksgiving, and let's talk about how to get that mass out of you.”
During this entire time I was holding my dad's hand. I was periodically looking at my dad while he was taking this all in. He did not break down. He was not upset. He was not afraid. He just looked straight ahead, nodded his head, and stayed strong. My dad was that way. He was a man of great and sincere faith. In my dad's silence during all those days I have no doubt that he was praying for strength and assistance. He believed that his prayers would be answered, but he did not leave his healing solely in the hands of another. He was ready to do his part as well. He was ready for a challenge. He knew he could do this. Most of all, he knew I was there to help him.
After the doctor left, we made plans to get my dad home.
Johnny wanted to eat in his own home.
Johnny wanted to sleep in his own home.
Johnny was eager to get on his own phone and make some calls. Johnny wanted to see Ginger again.
So, after a short stopover at a local care center while equipment was delivered and set up in the living room, Johnny returned home.
Finally. Now we could concentrate on getting Johnny better.
