Description:
This 1 day cycle tour has you cycling through parts of the Taieri Gorge on the famous Otago Central Rail Trail. The trail is vehicle-free, has an easy gradient and takes you through amazing scenery, over viaducts and through tunnels. Our driver will transport you from Dunedin to Ranfurly, highlighting points of interest along the way, where you can start the mainly downhill ride back to Hyde.
Your adventure starts in Dunedin at 8:00am when you will be picked up from your accommodation by our shuttle service and taken through the vast Maniototo Plains to Ranfurly. On the way, we call in at our Middlemarch Depot to fit you on your bike. Once at Ranfurly, you will set off to experience 33km of cycling with a slight downhill gradient. The day’s highlights are between Daisybank and Hyde where the trail runs alongside the Taieri River, over the Capburn and Prices Creek Bridges and through the last tunnel. The Daisybank to Hyde section is a very special part of the trail. The ride finishes at the Hyde Hotel carpark where we will pick you up and take you to Pukerangi Station where you will board the Taieri Gorge Train for the pectacular two-hour journey back to Dunedin.
Inclusions:
• Cycle equipment: bicycle, helmet, repair kit, panniers, odometer, carrier bag and trail documentation
• Snacks for on the trail and packed lunch
• Transport: Dunedin to Ranfurly by bus - 8:00am pick up from your accommodation in Dunedin
• Transport: Hyde to Middlemarch and then onto Pukerangi. Departing Hyde at 3:45pm.
• Taieri Gorge Railway Train journey from Pukerangi to Dunedin Railway Station - arriving at 6:30pm.** **Clients are required to make their own way from the Dunedin Railway Station to their accommodation.

• Discounted rate of NZD$45.00 extra per person, per day to upgrade to electric bikes. Subject to availability.
