What is a VoIP Gateway/ATA?
Analogue fixed line access (plain old telephone systems) have played a major role in communication
since Bell first called Watson, and it continues to play a vital role the world over. With the emergence
of VoIP, more and more organisations are moving away from analogue lines, however they still want to
either use their existing number, or existing phones, while benefiting from VoIP cost savings.
And that’s what a ATA (analogue telephone adapter) enables. Simply put, it allows analogue lines, and
analogue phones to work on your VoIP network! A Gateway is basically just a bigger ATA with more
ports and more functionality.
Nology stocks a wide range of ATA’s and Gateways in various port options and we have a helpful team
on hand to advise you on what you need. Contact us today to enable VoIP on your existing
infrastructure/devices!
