We add –s or –es to the end of the verb for he, she, it, or a singular subject

(e.g., a book).

Verbs showing the present simple tense are in italics in the following examples:

 He works in the sales department.

 She organizes training courses.

 It begins at eight o’clock every day.

 Nokia sells mobile telephones.

We add – es to the verbs that end in s, sh, ch, x, or o.

 The department head passes forms for the suggestion box on to the plant
manager.

 Billy washes her hair every day.

 Karen teaches from 10:00 A.M. to 13:00 P.M.

subject (e.g., books).
