Over the years we have stayed in dozens upon dozens of hotels and B&Bs. Most of our experiences have been incredibly positive and memorable. But there is not a single accomoda- tion that can hold a candle to GunRunner.
It’s located just on the edge of downtown Florence in a beautiful historic building. Down- stairs is Turbo Coffee, which is a great spot to eat a quick bite or have a latte. Also downstairs is the GunRunner spa where you can enjoy everything from facials and massages to Botox
and coolsculpting.
As you walk upstairs you’ll begin to see the incredible decor of the GunRunner. It’s in- dustrial chic with pops of color spread through- out. Every inch of this place is stunning.
All of the rooms are named after histor- ical figures or places in The Shoals. They have suites like Muscle Shoals Sound, Lumber One, and Frank Lloyd Wright. The decorations in the room directly reflect the person or place it’s based on.
Our suite was the Billy Reid. It had beautiful exposed brick and wood floors. Since Billy Reid is a fashion designer, there are de- sign sketches and fabric swatches adorning the walls. The ceilings feel like they go on forever, which adds to the beautiful industrial vibe. Every room has a chandelier, and Billy Reid’s is a glamorous and pearlescent white chandelier. The king-size bed was built by Billy Reid him- self, and it’s the centerpiece of the room. The suite is also equipped with a bluetooth sound system, a wet bar, refrigerator, and single-cup coffee maker.
In addition to the in- room ammenities, the Billy Reid suite has an 18-foot private balcony that gives incredible views for sunrise and sunset. You can grab a drink at the GunRunner
bar, enjoy it on the balcony, and then curl up in the luxurious Peacock Alley sheets.
Since we stayed in the Billy Reid suite, we’re kind of obsessed with it. We didn’t want to leave! But the other suites at GunRunner are just as beautiful and interesting.
The Muscle Shoals Sound suite is deco- rated with gold records and memorabelia from the local music history. It features a king-size bed, clawfoot tub, and a private 18-foot balcony.
