The Guest List: I’m focusing on family groups for now, due to the pandemic. Be sure to allow space for social distancing if you broaden your guest list. I love the idea of a multi-generational family tea!
Decorations: Keep your décor related to your theme. Children love colorful balloons. Place some Teddy Bears or Lego creations along a table runner or stand up some books. Your tea tray may be your centerpiece. Or you may choose to display a pretty cake for a centerpiece, then serve it. If you fear that you’ll run short of space on your table top, place your centerpiece items on a decorative tray that you can remove before service.
Menu: Tailor your menus to suit your guests. At my last Children’s Tea, we served tea, chocolate milk, water and a soft drink in their fancy tea cups. I chose very colorful sweets and asked for their tea sandwich preferences in advance. Some were served open-faced.
