Only in an atmosphere of harmony can worship be the joyous experience it is meant to be: The joy of coming home for a glimpse of God.
An aspirant understands that spirituality is not a private, egoistic pursuit. You cannot simply shut your door and say, “I have become spiritual and I do not need any of you.” The purpose of spirituality is to shed all defects and negative qualities from your personality and develop positive ones. Therefore, harmonize with the people in your life. Adapt and adjust so that your mind is not perpetually cluttered with regrets and fears that stem from how you have interacted with those around you.
“Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.” Peace, not disharmony, must be promoted within and around yourself.
Adapt and Adjust
Living with human beings requires a certain art of adapting and adjusting. It is unnecessary to create con ict over things that have very little meaning or to contradict others over tri es. In one story about King Akbar and his witty minister, Birbal, someone gave a dish of eggplant to the king, who expressed his great enjoyment after eating the preparation. Hearing this, Birbal replied, “That’s why God has put a crown on its head.” But the next day the king complained that the food had given him indigestion.
