Therefore, whoever takes refuge in their shadows, whoever turns to their teachings, receives inspiration and insight to pursue the spiritual path that brings about the cessation of all sorrows.
It is important for aspirants to remember that merely becoming interested in spirituality and wishing to attain Self-realization does not encompass what is most important. Unfortunately, some may adopt an attitude of, “Why care about the world? Let others go to hell!” But that is a great mistake. The world is your opportunity. People that you encounter are God assuming different names and forms, and it is through their help that you will develop all the positive qualities needed to adorn an evolving personality.
Every soul will one day enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Therefore, develop a charitable feeling for everyone. Furthermore, as you begin to develop such a charitable attitude, your perspective towards your own self becomes magnanimous. You begin to experience true inner tranquility. Charity opens the secret window within your heart, allowing you to soar on the wings of viveka (discrimination) and vairagya (dispassion) into the transcendental realm where you commune with God.
