These words, which are generally referred to as the Beatitudes, introduce the Sermon on the Mount, in which Christ presents a summary of His most sublime teachings in a very concise and condensed manner. These teachings of Christ are universal, and of great importance for students of any religion. When you delve deep into the Sermon on the Mount, you will discover the same wisdom that is presented in the Upanishads, Yoga Vasistha, the Vedas, the Gita or in any other scripture of the world.
The Vedas state, “Ekam Sat vipra bahudha vadanti”—“The Truth is one, but is spoken of in various ways.” Although true religion is Cosmic and universal, each religion uses its own language to express the same great Truths. Each religion is like an aromatic garden, lush with its own special owers of wisdom that are there to be enjoyed by all.
