of time and space. No longer is it obsessed with the question, “Which one should I pursue now?” Rather, the mind becomes internalized. It ows perpetually towards God through the highest mental function— brahmakara-vritti—and the glorious Light of the Self is revealed with perfect clarity.
Adorn Yourself with Divine Qualities
To see God as your own Self, you must ask yourself, “How can I be more like God?” What qualities does God possess that I can perfect in my own personality? A puri ed mind is one that is free from impressions of attachment, hatred, egoism, and sel shness. As long as these negative impressions exist, the unconscious will be a source of negative thoughts and the negative actions resulting from these thoughts. Therefore, the task before an aspirant is to replace these impure impressions with Divine impressions—impressions of humility, truthfulness, contentment, peace, harmony, and devotion that the Bhagavad Gita identi es as daivi sampat.
Conquering negative qualities within your personality is one of the greatest movements on the spiritual journey. The secret in sublimating lower tendencies lies in replacing them with their positive counterparts. For instance, if you are feeling hatred, gradually develop the quality of love. If you are struggling with anger, patiently promote forgiveness or compassion. In this way you attain greater purity
