even dreams. But deep sleep occurs according to nature’s compulsion. How wonderful it would be if you could unburden your mind so that even while awake, handling the various problems of the world, your mind remained relaxed and  owed towards the Divine Self! A feeling of closeness to God and a sweet sense of surrender to the Divine Will constitute the Godward or vertical movement of the mind, intercepting the horizontal world of time and space.
The moment you begin to enjoy that vertical ascension, it becomes clear that you should be very careful not to become overly involved with the world. Whenever you react or use harsh words and display bitterness, you become immersed in the sticky substance of the world, and it is dif cult to pull yourself out of the glue. Your mind continues to dwell upon the burden of the world. The art is to live your life with such adaptability and wisdom that while completing your duties you can remain relaxed. In the midst of activities, your mind does not lose sight of the Divine Presence. Then it is possible to enjoy serenity, which shines brighter than gold or any diamond.
If you were to “take up the Cross” and follow Christ in your daily life, you would be promoting peace and harmony within yourself, as well as rendering a dynamic service towards the spiritual
