This parable illustrates the glory of spiritual abundance by allegorically describing the plot of an aspirant’s life. Because of good karma from the past, you are able to sense that there is a treasure deep within your heart. Once that sensitivity develops, you focus wholeheartedly on retrieving that spiritual wealth.
Of course you pursue the project quietly. You do not advertise it. If you found a material treasure, you would keep your lips sealed until you got hold of it and had it completely under your control. Likewise, an aspirant should develop a similar spirit of inward secrecy. Your spiritual movement is a secret. How much you pray and meditate is a personal matter; it shouldn’t be advertised for the sake of an outward show.
Once you are aware that the treasure exists, you sell everything you have—all your worldly values— to attain the  eld of pure mind that yields the Supreme Value of life. Through the practice of meditation and re ection, you dig deeply and joyously in that  eld until you attain the intuitive knowledge of the Self— the greatest of all treasures.
